So we caught the sold out Bloc Party show in Toronto on Monday, and I think I can safely say that will be my first and last time seeing a band at The Docks. Not that the sound wasn’t excellent, but being a part of one obnoxious mass of sweaty people crammed into a long narrow room is not really my idea of fun. If you’re the type who likes to stand at the back, The Docks isn’t your ideal venue. Bloc Party sounded tight, but the frat boy audience that they were playing to dampened the mood a fair bit. What can I say, I’m not 17 anymore. They did perform some new songs, including “The Present”, a track recorded for the new War Child benefit comp (also featuring new songs from The Go! Team, Radiohead and The Kaiser Chiefs). Also, Bloc Party’s new video for the song “Two More Years” is now streaming on their website, click below to check it out.
