Michael Moore Considering Katrina Documentary?
There’s an intriguing news story over at MSNBC today reporting that Michael Moore is considering making a documentary about Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. While I’m sure half of the people reading this just groaned, I, for one, think this would be an amazing idea. After all the sensationalized news coverage we’ve been getting for the past week or so, what we really need now is for someone to go in there and cut through all the crap to get to the truth. Sure, Moore will probably sensationalize it in his own way… but at least you know he will present a different side of the story. One would wonder how this could affect the status of his other project in the works, a documentary about the U.S. health care system entitled “Sicko”. (Incidentally, I think this will be a great film too… check out Malcolm Gladwell’s recent article in the New Yorker to get an idea of the issues that it will be dealing with.)

The sooner its released, the worse idea it is. Some distance will be sorely needed.

Yeah, I expected this to spark the age old Michael Moore debate. I’m not saying Moore’s films are the absolute authority on their respective topics. I’d just be interested to see what his angle would be. Plus, I think I’d believe what Moore has to say over CNN any day.
