Nintendo DS Price Drop Speculation
Various sources this week are reporting that Nintendo may chop prices on their DS handheld system on or before August 21st. This move would see the price drop from $149.99 to $129.99 U.S. ($199.99 to probably $174.99 in Canada) just in time for the release of their so-called “killer app”, Nintendogs (yeah I know it’s just a lame pet simulator), and Advance Wars Dual Strike. Myself, I’ve been on the verge of buying a DS for the past month or so, and this could finally put me over the top. I do think the system is just now starting show its potential, with big titles like Mario Kart, Mario & Luigi 2, Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime Hunters on the horizon, not to mention unique games like Trauma Center: Under The Knife, Electroplankton and the already released WarioWare Touched! Of course, the other burning question is, will Sony respond with a price cut on the PSP as well? We’ll have to wait and see.
