Voltron Live-Action Movie In The Works, New Animated Series
We should have been expecting something like this. After all, when it rains in Hollywood, it pours. All the buzz surrounding the Michael Bay/Steven Spielberg production of the Transformers appears to have inspired other producers to line up 80’s cartoon licenses of their own. This week The Hollywood Reporter has learned that New Line Cinema acquired the rights to a Voltron feature film, with the project being produced by Mark Gordon (The Day After Tomorrow, Speed). A quick visit to the World Events Productions website (owners of Voltron) currently reveals no additional details about the film, however, apparently there is a new Voltron animated series on the way, most likely to be officially announced later this year. Kickstart Entertainment are the ones behind it, and they have a promo video of the new Voltron series up on their website now. It looks pretty cool actually. As for the live-action movie… well at least it won’t require as much CGI as the Transformers flick, but every Voltron episode followed the same damn formula. “Form blazing sword!” Why didn’t they ever just start with the blazing sword??

Wasn’t this already a live action show? Yes…I believe it was called “Power Rangers”.

Posted by Roman on July 27th, 2005How dare anyone compare the mighty voltron series to those cheesy power rangers. Power rangers is a cheap copy. I can’t wait to see some clips of the up and coming voltron movie! If they can pull off tranformers like they did voltron should be pretty cool!
Posted by paul davis on November 30th, 2007Yeah, um unfortunately, and I hate to say it but the power rangers actually came first
It breaks my heart
Posted by someguy on December 30th, 2007I am sorry but Voltron is way better then the Power Rangers. I mean look every year the rangers have had a new zord or a new group for the most part for the last 13 yrs or so. However, Voltron has been the same group of space explorers for 24 yrs. Also, the same robot for 24 yrs. Enough Said. I am for one looking forward to a live action movie.
Posted by Alex on February 8th, 2008Acyually not true. If you remember correctly there was a second group of the Voltron team made up of humans and aliens that united different vehicles together.
Posted by Lou on February 10th, 2008power rangers didn’t come first, what u crazy?!?! voltron was first and its the best! GO ROBOT NERDS

Voltron came out first. power rangers was inspired by them. there were 3 different voltrons. i believe only 2 made it to the U.S. Voltron lions (the best of the best) and voltron vehicles(dont remember much about it). i can’t wait for this movie to come out!
Posted by vash01 on February 12th, 2008Ok so I’m going to be the fact bringer and put an argument to rest. The Sentai series that the Power Ranger is based off of first premiered in Japan in 1975 with Goranger. the third sentai series premiered in Japan in 1979 and was called Battle Fever J. This is the first of the season to use a giant mecha. Now Golion, on of the two series that Voltron is based on premiered in Japan in 1981, two years after Battle Fever J, the third sentai series. There for no matter how much you may hate it Sentai/Power Ranger came before Golion/Voltron.
Posted by Matikz on February 21st, 2008If Voltron is a success, We could be getting another Power Rangers movie soon after. But, the problem is that Voltron is the biggest piece of shit around. They took Sentai, animated it, then decided to make it live-action again. Voltron Sucks balls, Power Rangers kick the shit out of those fucking dorks. Anyone who thinks differently is a fucking uneducated low-life.
Posted by DarkRanger99 on February 26th, 2008hey, has anyone seen the two other voltron dementions
Posted by skullbash on February 29th, 2008other then number 3?
VOLTRON WAS FIRST AND THE BEST ……………..
Posted by draejackson on April 13th, 2008Voltron came AFTER Super Sentai, The Japanese show PR is developed from. Voltron’s the Rip off, PR just rips off of Super Sentai, NOT VOLTRON!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by DarkRanger99 on May 14th, 2008Voltron was based on the anime Golion from a Toei aninimation it was shown in the early 80s Wep bought it in mid 80s dubbed and edited it and called it Voltron. Lion was the most popular as it got 2 seasons, it was my fav. Keith(the hero),Allura(hero’s love interest),Lance(hero’s best friend and sidekick), Hunk and Pidge (quirky comical extras)love em all. Voltron was entirely different to Power Rangers yes maybe the concept was the simliar but the heros of Voltron never had to talk with there hands. I can’t wait until the live-action movie let’s hope they writers have the sense to base it on the original cartoon and/or comic. When is the new cartoon series suppose to come out?
Posted by lovelyl on June 14th, 2008Yes Sentai came first and they re did in for America P.R. same thing but they added the school kids ect in the fighting was all origal Sentai. Voltron is voltron and mo one down it. Check out Excell Saga in an Anime and has a episode maken fun of Sentai. But Hey I was a Kid once too and its all Bout Ultra Man if we wana go that route.
Posted by Slowbone on September 18th, 2008There was 2 versions of voltron in the U.S. we could buy all 3 as toys. there were the 15 vehicles, segregated into 3 team, ground, air, water. they made 3 super vehicles, then combined in to voltron. voltron 2 was 3 robots, black yellow and red ( i believe). not seen here. then the 5 robot lions. there was a couple shows when voltorn 1 and 3 were on the same show.
Posted by aggrivator on October 18th, 2008If they will ever produce a Voltron movie it will be better to do the lion force Voltron instead of the vehicle force
Posted by mark on September 3rd, 2009OKAY FUCKERS! Goranger came out first. Battle Fever J started Japanese current #2 export (aside from tentacle porn) of giant robots.
There were 3 completely different shows called, GoLion(lionbot, Dairugger XV(vehicle), and Albega(the one we didnt get).
The first premise was to have all 3 series together, as Voltron of the far/middle/ near universe with storues either swapping or running continuous. I cant remember.
Lionbot was great, after haveing the japanese MAKE NEW EPISODES FOR THEM TO USE, thye went to vehicle voltron. Pop wasnt as good they said fuck it and moved on.
