Video Blogging: The Next Big Thing?

Some days I feel like I just can’t keep up with the internet. I swear, the damn thing is always one step ahead of me. It seems like only yesterday we got our Space Junk Radio podcast up and running, and now already the next blogging innovation seems ready to take the world by storm. I’m talking about video blogging, also known as “vlogging” or “vidcasting”, which is the practice of recording video footage and syndicating it through the internet… not unlike having your very own online public access show. Interestingly, iTunes has recently incorporated video player support over their last couple of updates and allowing you to subscribe to both podcasts and vidcasts through their software. (There is speculation that a video iPod is not far off.)
Our friends over at The Movie Blog posted their first video edition this week and it seems to be a smash success. Hats off to them! Various other video blogs have been going strong for quite a while now, including the web-based technology show Systm, hosted by Kevin Rose of TechTV fame. So what you’re all wondering is, will Space Junk follow suit? Well, we’ve discussed it numerous times, but the thing is — it’s a lot more work. Plus there’s something about the portability (not to mention the mystique) of an audio broadcast that we don’t want to lose. So we’ll see what happens. In the meantime, visit the link below to delve into the wonderful world of video blogging.
