Battle Pope Issue #1 Out Next Week
You’ve heard of Homopater The Incredible Popeman, now prepare yourself for Robert Kirkman’s Battle Pope. Next week Image Comics will reprint and release issue #1 of this independent and originally self-published comic by the guy who now does The Walking Dead and Marvel Team-Up (among other things). With art and a new cover by Tony Moore, it looks to be a bizarre and amusing (if a little gimmicky) read. “When he’s not leadin’ mass, he’s out kickin’ ass!” He’s also got Jesus H. Christ as a sidekick. It’s hard not to be reminded of the priest from Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive when it comes to characters like this (”I kick ass for the Lord!”).
