Fox Launches New Channel Dedicated To Reality TV

You knew it was going to happen eventually… to be honest, I’m kind of surprised it took so long. Someone has finally launched a TV channel that airs reality shows 24/7, and wouldn’t you know it, FOX are the ones behind it all. Fox Reality is a new channel that launched just last week in the U.S., and it features a line-up of both new original reality shows and re-runs of old classics. I guess we’ll find out just how rewatchable shows like Joe Millionaire really are, although one interesting thing is that apparently they will be including new supplemental materials with older shows including never-before-seen interviews, outtakes and behind the scenes footage. That just might sell me on it. People with satellite can probably get this channel already. My question is, when will Canadian cable providers pick it up? Soon I hope.

  1. Yeah, like this is going to last.

  2. I don’t see why it wouldn’t… I mean they are airing shows like COPS which have been on for years and years. Even though reality TV as a monstrous trend is dying out, I think there will always be reality programming.

  3. I guess by definition a lot of shows are considered “reality TV” but the type which I hope are on their way out are the ones with gimmicky contests or the “real lives” of trashy celebs. Would anyone really want to watch an old season of Survivor or The Bachelor after you know who won?

I hope reality shows that are more in the vein of documentaries continue, but I can’t wait until the rest of them implode.
