I share Jay’s general hatred for Ron Howard. he has no personal style, is annoying as he promotes his movies. Cinderella Man in particular just reeks of hokey folksy patriotism and it makes me wanna barf.
but… it has Russel Crowe, who despite being an asshole, usually makes good movie choices. So I’d maybe MAYBE rent it someday…
I really liked A Beautiful Mind, I was shocked Howard made it. But oh well, Howard is good for three other things: Willow, Arrested Development , and making sure his weirdo brother gets work.
Topher Grace is supposed to be a villain in Spiderman 3
it seems Jay always gets really really upset during the Trailer Trash segment.
re: Flaming Lips heroin scene. It wasnt just because it was heroin – it was more the way he honestly talked about it. Because it wasnt just silently doing drugs, there was a disconnection to what he was doing, you know what was going on but it was just kinda bizarre – you dont picture anyone being so matter of fact and honest about what it does to them on camera like that. it was something I didnt think I would ever see so thats why it was so captivating. if it wasnt so captivating, i’d think it was exploitative.
and it was shot cool.

Posted by Sean on May 27th, 2005I imagine if Hayden Christensen is fed up with acting, it must be in part because of working with George Lucas. I mean, Lucas sounds like he really, really hates acting and has a way of draining the life out of his performers.
