While I never did catch an episode of Joss Whedon’s short-lived sci-fi series Firefly on TV, I have since heard from many people that the show was top-notch and killed quite prematurely by Fox. Given Fox’s knack for canning superior television programming, I can only guess there is some truth to these claims. Following a massive outcry from fans, an interesting plan was hatched. Rather than renewing the series, a feature film would be developed instead… thus, Firefly Serenity was born. The official Serenity website has been online for a while now and proclaims a September 30th, 2005 release date for the film, however, little else has been revealed as of yet. I decided to do a little digging and came across a very crappy handheld video recording of a Firefly Serenity teaser that was shown at the San Diego comic con this year. The quality sure sucks, but on the plus side it gives you that gritty feeling of sitting beside some fat, sweaty fanboy as you watch. Hopefully an official trailer will hit the web soon, but for now, click below for a taste of Serenity.
