Joss Whedon To Write And Direct Wonder Woman
After months of speculation, it has finally been confirmed that Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Firefly, has been hired on by Warner Brothers to write and direct a Wonder Woman movie. There had previously been rumours that he would be the director for X-Men 3 (replacing Bryan Singer who will be doing the new Superman), given that he is currently writing The Astonishing X-Men comic book for Marvel. However, earlier in the week it was announced that the X3 job would instead go to British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, director of Layer Cake and producer of Guy’s Ritchie’s Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. I guess it kind of makes sense for Whedon to do a Wonder Woman flick though, given his experience with strong female leads. Wonder Woman is loosely planned for a summer 2006 release. Of course, now the big question is, who will play Wonder Woman? According to one report I read, Whedon’s top choice is Kim Basinger, while producer Joel Silver wants Jessica Biel instead. Actually both of those choices sound pretty lame if you ask me.

Hmmmm, as I remember when I was young, the Wonder Woman televsion series as I recall was pretty good. Even the theme song was catchy and she was one of the Super Friends (cartoon).
The only way this movie could work is if they DON’T stray from the original concept. Dismal performances from other “super hero” type movies NEEDS to be recognize and used as a guide of what NOT to do.
I can understand adding modern touches and such, but it will be dependant on WHO they cast in the lead role. VERY IMPORTANT! She would have to exude the same charm Linda Carter gave the character in the tv series and to be of the dark hair/blue eyes that was part of her identity.
