EA is recruiting some Beastie star power for their upcoming release of NBA Street V3. The Beastie Boys are among the artists on the soundtrack, contributing the song “An Open Letter To NYC” alongside other acts such as House Of Pain, De La Soul and MC Lyte. But even cooler than that, Adrock, MCA and Mike D will be featured in the game as unlockable characters, which you will have access to if you can defeat them in a “Street Challenge” in NYC’s Dyckman Park. This, in addition to earlier news that Mario, Luigi and other Nintendo characters would be unlockables in the Gamecube version of the game. It’s interesting to see musicians cross-promoting with video games so frequently nowadays (Def Jam Vendetta anyone?) as it’s really adding to the “coolness factor” of video games as of late.
