Peter Jackson Talks About The “Ultimate” LOTR DVD Set
Apparently it’s not enough that the Lord of the Rings extended edition DVDs are perhaps the most massive, in-depth packages ever released for any movie. Peter Jackson was interviewed on the set of King Kong where he mentioned some details about the “Ultimate” Lord of the Rings DVD Collection that he would like to produce. The new DVD collection would feature the same extended cuts of the 3 movies, however, rather than adding more deleted scenes back in (of which there are still plenty) he wants to have commentaries to explain why things were cut. There are also bloopers and outtakes that can be added, along with feature-length documentaries filmed by Forgotten Silver collaborator Costa Botes. I don’t think that’s enough to get me to buy the movies again, but I’m sure there are some hardcore fans out there who will stop at nothing to get every last minute of LOTR footage available.
