EA Obtains Rights To ESPN Brand Name For 15 Years
If there’s one phrase that can sum up some of the video game news we’ve heard over the last couple of months, it is “Don’t fuck with EA”. They have taken serious measures to combat the competition that has cut into the sales of their sports titles, most notably coming from Sega and their ESPN line of games. In addition to inking a deal for exclusive rights to both the NFL and the AFL, EA has now continued to flat out kick Sega while they’re down by signing an agreement with ESPN that will grant EA the rights to the ESPN brand for the next 15 years! It seems unlikely that they will change the name of most of their sports titles that already feature prominent personalities like Tiger Woods and John Madden, and it is clear that this is a strategic move to eliminate the threat of Sega’s sports games. God, don’t you just love strong arm tactics and monopolies!

I use to be a big Madden Fan but they have really just not impressed me lately. As far as them obtaining all of these right I am pretty sure that they are going to raise the price for there games now that they will have Sega out of their hair. As a business deal I think that it was really smart of them but I really think that they are affraid of the compitition and that is all it boils down too.
