Gus Van Sant, acclaimed director of “Good Will Hunting” and most recently, the Palme D’Or winning “Elephant”, has completed filming of his new movie, “Final Days”. Despite rumors of otherwise, the film is not a Kurt Cobain biopic, but has been inspired by Kurt and the many theories surrounding what Kurt did before he offed himself almost 11 years ago. The film stars Michael Pitt in the Kurt-ish role, who has played the part of iconic rocker before, in the musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”. No word yet if this will see wide release or be a limited release art film in the vein of Van Sant’s last couple efforts. My gut says the latter.
