Trailer For Ridley Scott’s Kingdom Of Heaven Out Now
The success of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy seems to be responsible for the current outbreak of historical epics, and now Ridley Scott is weighing in with another epic of his own. But then, if anyone is entitled to do another one of these damn movies, I think the director of Gladiator probably deserves the shot. Kingdom Of Heaven is set in 12th century Jerusalem during The Crusades and after seeing the trailer I can’t dispute that it looks visually impressive. Here’s what I don’t like about the movie. First of all, Orlando Bloom is getting on my nerves. Does this guy ever play anything except these mythical heroic characters? Secondly, it’s about The Crusades and could easily become a little too religious for my tastes. Still, Ridley Scott is rarely involved in a poor film so I just may give him the benefit of the doubt. But if he follows this up with the rumoured Gladiator sequel I might not think so highly of him anymore.

ahh Sir Ridley Scott. This film is probably appropriate for our time–all of these wars going on in god’s name and what not. I’m just kind of sick about hearing, and teaching for that matter, how history repeats itself.
I must admit that I’m also sick of Sir Ridley Scott. Granted he did direct two of my all time favorites, Blade Runner and Alien, but what has he done since 1982 (?)? White Squall, GI Jane, 1492, Matchstick Men and even Gladiator are all rather silly films in my honest opinion.
