New Scooby-Doo Movies Collection Coming To DVD

Aside from the first season of Scooby-Doo Where Are You?, the Scooby-Doo episodes I remember most are the ones that had the celebrity guest stars on them. For some reason I haven’t been able to see many of these in recent years because The New Scooby-Doo Movies series was never picked up for broadcast by any cable TV stations except for the Cartoon Network, which is only available in the U.S. or on satellite. On March 22nd they will finally release a collection of these episodes on DVD. The Best Of The New Scooby-Doo Movies features 15 hour-long episodes, with guest stars including Don Knotts, The Three Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, Dick Van Dyke and Don Adams. It also includes the episodes with Batman & Robin and The Harlem Globetrotters which have previously been released on DVD. There are 3 featurettes on the 4th disc: “The Hanna-Barbera Kennel Club Roasts Scooby-Doo”, “Uptown With Scooby-Doo and The Harlem Globetrotters” and “The Girls Rock!” Considering there were only 24 episodes of The New Scooby-Doo Movies ever made, you have to wonder why they couldn’t include the other 9 episodes. I guess they probably couldn’t get permission from the guest stars. I can recall at least one episode with Sonny & Cher, that would have been amusing to see.
