BitTorrent Users to be Targetted by MPAA in Legal Campaign
It appears that the Motion Picture Association of America and Lenny the stunt man have had enough of illegal movie downloading. They announced this week that they have taken action against over 100 servers for file-sharing programs BitTorrent, eDonkey, and DirectConnect in an effort to take a strong stance against movie piracy. This may or may not explain why the popular BitTorrent site Suprnova has recently been experiencing downtime. They can’t go after the creators of these file sharing programs, as they have legitimate uses and the tracking servers are not run by the developers, nor are the actual files hosted by them. The MPAA claims to be on track to lose $3.5 billion this year due to pirated DVDs and downloaded movies. Once again they are fighting another battle they can’t possibly win. No one feels pity for Hollywood. For a good laugh, check out the short videos at www.respectbootleggers.org.
