Moneen – Smaller Chairs For The Early 1900’s
Moneen – Smaller Chairs for the Early 1900’s
(Smallman)
You might want to grab a bigger chair before you throw this EP on, because it is likely to knock you off your feet. This cd is an amazing piece of work. The only thing that sucks about it is that it only has 4 songs on it. I want more damnit!
I don’t usually like to buy 4 song EPs; I guess I’m a bit of a cheapskate and I don’t usually feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. For Moneen though, I had to make an exception. Especially after seeing them play live, I just felt like I need to take home a part of their show with me. Luckily this EP comes close to capturing their live ferocity. The songs on this EP are as intense, emotional and catchy as anything you are likely to hear from an emo band. They draw you in with their sweet melodies and heartfelt lyrics, and then smash you over the head with an explosion of blistering guitars.
This album was originally released on Moneen’s own label, Hornby Records, and then it got picked up by Smallman Records for further distribution across Canada.Moneen have definitely been leaving an impression on a lot of people, myself included.I don’t know what else to say except that I can’t wait for the full length. — Sean
